Pineapple Cakes, 鳳梨酥 fènɡ lí sū (Mandarin), or 王梨酥 ông-lâi-so͘ (Hokkien, or Taiwanese) is Taiwan’s most renowned pastries. These cakes, which consist of a delicate shortbread dough and filled with sweet and tart pineapple jam/paste, resemble more of a cookie pie. They carry an auspicious meaning because in Taiwanese, “pineapple” 王梨 (ông-lâi) sounds like “flourishing” 王来 (ōng-lâi). For that reason, these cakes were primarily given on special occasions such as weddings and Lunar New Year. Nowadays pineapple cakes are available year round and they are considered one of the best Taiwanese souvenirs, even outperforming mooncakes!
We make the pineapple filling from fresh pineapples cooked down to an intensely vibrant jam and encased in a tender sweet and savory shortbread. Each boxed set comes with four pineapple shaped cakes in total. Each cake measures approximately 1.75" in length and 3/4" in height.
Ingredients: Pineapple, sugar, cake flour, butter, powdered sugar, sugar, egg yolks, milk powder, condensed milk, matcha powder, parmesan cheese, salt, spices.

Instructions: Store at room temperature. Best consumed within 3 days of pick up. Keep for longer storage in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Bring to room temperature before consuming.
